WORKnet is the Dept. of Workforce Development's information system on our state's workforce and labor market. It includes links to publications, maps, etc., on various labor topics, including census data for Wisconsin's labor force and related wages and salaries.
State of Wisconsin Demographic Services Center develops annual total population estimates for the next 30 years for all towns, villages, and cities. The site also estimates the voting age population for all municipalities and population estimates for Zip Code Areas, and develops population projections by age and gender for the counties, total population for all municipalities, and total housing units and households for all counties.
COWS is a national policy center and field laboratory for high-road economic development. Its stated goals are "a competitve market economy of shared prosperity, environmental sustainability, and capable democratic government." Located at UW-Madison, COWS' program focuses are:economic and workforce development, sectoral strategies and career pathways, clean energy and energy efficiency, strategies for improving low-wage work, etc.

The Wisconsin Covenant is a simple set of expectations and promises between eighth grade students in the state of Wisconsin and insitutions of higher education in Wisconsin. In the covenant, students commit to:
completing the classes they need for graduation;
maintaining a "B" average; and
being a good citizen
In return, the state promises:
a spot in either the UW System, the WI Technical College System, or at one of the state's 20 private, nonprofit, and independent colleges; and
to provide financial assistance to meet their family's determined needs so that all can afford a higher education
The deadline for signing the covenant for current freshmen in high school: Sept. 30, 2008. This year's eighth graders will be invited to sign the pledge in the spring.
