Exploring the New Library Web Site

Senior Forum

There is a wealth of information in this section of the web site, including how to:

  • access your V-Cat account and renew items
  • find resources for caregiving, caregivers, and local services
  • locate genealogy resources, financial tools, and some public and not-for-profit legal assistance
  • identify some new ideas for your free time
  • find some Internet resources on health, medical information and prescription drugs
  • plus much, much more!

Session:

Arrange a session for one-on-one assistance by emailing Cynthia, or call 623-3724.

Resources for Preschoolers

This is a class for the parents of preschoolers, not the preschoolers themselves. There is an abundance of new resources in the library and on the new web site to excite and entertain your preschooler (and teach them great skills in the process). This is an introduction to the tools themselves (literacy computer, web sites, online games), so that you can feel comfortable teaching your preschooler how to use them.

For this class, try to leave the preschooler at home. It's your turn to have some fun!

Session:

Thurs., Jan. 13 from 6-7 p.m.

Class Limit: 6

Software

A Peak at Microsoft Word 2007

Are you considering making the switch from your older version of Microsoft Office to the new Office 2007? Have you taken a look at this newer version of Word and wondered where all the menus and processes you're accustomed to using have gone?

The newer Word 2007 is a bit of a shock for those accustomed to older versions, and this class will give you just a brief introduction to ease that fear factor. Come for an opportunity to experiment before you buy or make the transition to this newer software.

This is no more than an introduction. You won't leave with a firm handle on Office 2007, just a glimpse at its features.

Session:

Arrange a session for one-on-one assistance by emailing Cynthia, or call 623-3724.

Upcoming Classes

Resources for Elementary Age Children

The new library web site offers a plethora of tools, games, and research sources specifically targeting elementary age children. This is a class for that elementary age child and his or her parent. There will be one computer station for each child and parent.

Kids: you can teach your parents how to navigate around the web site, too.

Hopefully coming in February!
