Our Woodland Ancestors

The Antigo Library Foundation is holding a fundraiser to benefit the Antigo Public Library on April 23rd!

John Bates is the author of nine books about the natural history of the Northwoods and has a bi-weekly column in the Lakeland Times. He’s worked as a local naturalist for over 30 years and leads an array of guided trips to help people further understand the diversity and beauty of nature and our place in it. His most recent book is “Our Living ancestors: The History and Ecology of Old- Growth forests in Wisconsin (and Where to Find Them)”.

Mary Burns expresses her love of northern woodlands and waters in her weavings and writings. As an award-winning jacquard loom weaver, her exhibit “Ancestral Women of Wisconsin” has been touring for over three years across the United States. She is currently working on an international exhibit about women and water.

A catered dinner starts at 5:30pm with a program featuring John and Mary to follow.
Dinner options will be beef, chicken, or a gluten-free vegan.
Wine will be from the Three Lakes Winery, and a non-alcoholic option will be available as well.

Tickets to be seated at a table with John Bates and Mary Burns will be $80 and all others will be $50.
Tickets are available for sale at the Antigo Public Library now through April 4th.
As this is a catered event there are no day-of ticket sales.
