2022 Summer Quest 

It is important to keep youth reading and learning year round. Summer Quest at the Antigo Public Library provides books, activities, events, story time, challenges and more to keep youth ages 0-14 engaged all summer long.

This summer our theme is Oceans of Possibilities and we will have weekly activities both in-person and virtual, special events, and six different “Quests” (challenges) youth can complete. Youth earn book bucks for quests completed. These book bucks can be used to purchase new books at our end of summer book fair August 11-19.
Quests can be completed on Beanstack OR with paper quest cards by picking up a Summer Quest folder at the library.  You can collect book bucks as you go OR save your completed quest cards in your folder and collect all rewards by August 12.

Early Learning Quest: Children ages 0-2. Complete 6 early learning activities with your child to earn two book bucks.

Creative Quest: Do our weekly Take and Make activity or another creative activity at home to earn one book buck. This quest can be completed once per week all summer long.

Library Quest: Visit the library 5 times to earn one book buck. This quest can be repeated all summer long.

Ocean Quest: Complete 5 ocean-learning activities to earn 5 book bucks. This quest can only be done once. The quest can be one with a paper quest card, but you MUST register for the quest on Beanstack in order to receive the activity bag. Page Turner Adventure Quest: Visit our Page Turner Adventure Site each week from June 13 – July 8 and watch at least 3 videos for that week. One of the videos must be the author spotlight. Read one book by that author and solve the Breakout game for that week. Earn 3 book bucks for each week you complete these activities. The password for the Page Turner site is summer.

Reading Quest: Read for at least 20 minutes on 5 different days to earn two book bucks. This quest can be repeated June 11 – August 12.

Storefront Scavenger Hunt July 1-31

The Antigo Library is hosting our community’s first ever storefront scavenger hunt! Beginning July 1 you will start seeing book characters all over town. To play the game, pick up a card at the library or download one here. Turn in completed cards by August 2 to be entered into a drawing for cool prizes like pool passes, free movie tickets, ice cream, gift baskets, gift cards and more!

Activities and Events for Summer 2022

Story Adventures

Weekly Story Time, Story Walks and Virtual Page Turner Adventures

Preschool Story Time will be held on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. and will features stories, songs, rhymes and learning games for birth – ages 5.

Elementary Story Time will be held Fridays at 11 a.m. and will feature stories and group games followed by free time for board games, legos and more.

At the end of this story there is information on how to play a breakout game to win two extra book bucks for our end of summer book fair. The link to the game is here.

Page Turner Ocean Adventures

Page Turner Virtual Reading Adventures are returning this summer for four weeks with three videos each week.  Click here to watch! You can earn book bucks by watching and doing some fun extra activities. Check out our Summer flyer to learn more.

Art Materials

Creative Fun at Home and in the Library

We will have a 9-week sesssion of our popular “Take and Make” program this summer with ocean-themed crafts and projects for your families to enjoy. New bags will be available each Monday and given out while supplies last through the end of the week.

If you want to do some creating inside the library, we will also continue to have a wide range of crafts, blocks, puzzles and more that you can do in our building whenever the library is open.

We also have a special treat planned in July when we will be doing our first ever Storefront Scavenger Hunt. See the flyer below for details.

June 11 Kickoff Day
Visit us on the library lawn between 10-3 to hear stories, make art, pick up summer reading information and enjoy an ice pop.

June 22 Learning Fun with the Langlade County 4-H
Join us at 1 p.m. for fun and learning with 4-H.

June 23 Pajama Stories
Join us at 7 p.m. for stories, songs and crafts. Be sure to wear your PJs!

June 28 – Family Movies
Join us at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. for ocean-themed family movies. We will also have popcorn and lemonade! Bring a pillow and a water bottle if you would like.

July 6 Learning Fun with the Langlade County 4-H
Join us at 1 p.m. for fun and learning with 4-H.

July 12 – DINOSAURS!
Strutz Entertainment will be here at 11 a.m. to bring some amazing Dinosaur Puppets for a fun and fact-filled program from Prehistoric Times.

July 13 – The Wisconsin Water Library
Join us at 1:30 p.m. for stories and watery activities.

July 20 Langlade County 4-H Showcase
Join us at 5 p.m. for fun and learning with 4-H.

July 28 – Pajama Stories

August 2 – Henry and the Treasure Chest
Join us at 11 a.m. for this story and music-filled adventure presented by Randy Peterson.

August 3 – Aquatic Invasive Species Join us at 1 p.m. for this interactive program presented by Langlade County with FLOW AIS.
