Volunteers, Board Members, Foundation, and Friends

If you are interested in supporting the library through giving your time and talents to our efforts, you are in the right place. Check out the opportunities below for supporting our library through hands-on projects, serving on a board or joining the Friends.  If you are interesting in supporting our funding visit this page.

 Volunteers

Thank you so much for your interest in supporting the library through volunteering. The library welcomes volunteers 13 years of age and older to work in the library. Permission of a parent or guardian is required for those under 18 years of age. Not all volunteer positions are available for patrons under the age of 18. A volunteer performs tasks for the Antigo Public Library Public Library without wages, benefits, or compensation of any kind, including workman’s compensation. Prospective volunteers must fill out and submit an application which will be reviewed by the Library Director. If no suitable job matches are available at the time, the applicant will be informed that their application will be kept on file for one year. If an appropriate position opens within that time, the application will be contacted. Prospective volunteers will go through an interview with library staff.

Antigo Public Library Board of Trustees

The Antigo Public Library Board of Trustees is the governing board of the Antigo Public Library.  Members are appointed by the Mayor/City Council and the County Board of Supervisors with recommendations from the Board President and Library Director. They serve in a volunteer capacity.

Their main tasks are to set the budget, policy and hire a director who manages the library, carries out policy, hires staff, and advises the board on library matters.

Antigo Public Library Foundation, Inc.

The APL Foundation is a charitable organization that is completely independent from the library but works to raise funds for the library. The Foundation’s focus is on fundraising for large projects like our solar project, outreach vehicle, circulation desk, meeting room technology, etc. They raise funds by encouraging memorial and estate donations, applying for foundation to foundation grants and supporting larger grant projects like our current solar installation.  They are currently supporting the development of an Early Literacy Play Center in our children’s area. The Foundation Board has 9-members and meets 4 times per year.

The Friends of the Antigo Public Library

In 2024 we are starting a Friends of the Library group at the Antigo Public Library.  Friends of the Library groups focus on small-scale fundraising, library advocacy and volunteering.  You might find a library friend helping at a brat fry, going to a local city or county meeting to support a library project, or volunteering to help at a special event where extra hands are needed.
