We have gone fine-free! What does this mean?
If you have a balance on your library account that is ONLY from overdue fines, we will clear it. It doesn’t matter how old or new these fines are. Beginning November 1, no new overdue fines will accrue on items checked out at any of the Antigo Library branches.
If you have a balance on your library account that is from FEES (lost or damaged items) charged on October 31, 2013 or BEFORE, we will clear these fees. This is a ONE-TIME Amnesty approved by the board. It is not going to be an ongoing practice to clear fees after 10-years.
If you are now a legal adult and have FEES from when you were a child, we will clear these fees. This is an ongoing practice based on our Fresh Start policy implemented in 2022.
If you have FEES from items that were lost or damaged on or after November 1, 2013 and you were an adult when these fees were charged, you are still responsible for these items. However, if you still have these items, you can return them to have all charges cleared. OR, if replacements to these are still available to purchase, you can provide replacements. For older items, you can also speak with the library director to potentially replace lost items with different items that the library currently needs.
